HISTORY OF THE CLUB
Triangle Sportsmen’s Club, Inc. is located in Tazewell County,
VA, 4.6 miles west of Bluefield, VA off US Route 460. TSC has been
in operation since 1939, starting at the current location of AB
Wholesale in Bluefield, VA. In the early 1940’s, TSC relocated
to its current location (770 Triangle Road) after Purchasing 117.4
acres of land from the Summers family.
The club began as a Shotgun Club where Triangle Gun Club now sits.
The rifle and pistol range was located at the bottom of the hill
below the shotgun range. After two moves, the rifle and pistol range
were moved to the current location of the upper range. The lower
range was designed to be a fish pond, but the pond was unable to
hold water. It was decided to turn the area into a 200 meter range.
Working with Pounding Mill Quarry, the fish pond and lower range
were filled in to what you see today.
Later, the handgun ranges were added. First the Falling Plate range,
The Moving Target setup and then the Turning Target System used
in PPC. The Range Tower was added in the mid 1990’s . Lights
have been added to the Moving Target area and The Archery Practice
Area. Over the past five years, sheds have been purchased to provide
shelter from the weather during matches.
Improvements are ongoing to provide a safe and enjoyable shooting
range.
